A jet carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the plane's windshield, according to an official announcement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The plane touched down based on standard protocol and all passengers, such as Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson stated in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to Brussels at the time.
This occurrence is not the first time that a US military aircraft transporting a senior official has experienced mechanical issues.
Earlier this year, a American military jet carrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Munich was compelled to head back to Washington DC after encountering a mechanical fault.
