Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
