The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
