Harvard ex-president Summers Resigns from AI Company's Directors
Ex-Treasury chief the Harvard professor is exiting the board at the ChatGPT creator, just several days after a batch of electronic messages between him and notorious criminal the accused trafficker became public.
The economist commented in an announcement that he was "grateful for the chance to have served, enthusiastic about the potential of the organization, and eagerly await observing their development".
The prominent academic, who previously presided over Harvard University, stated on Monday that he would be stepping back from public roles due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

The newly public communications showed that the economist corresponded with the financier until the 24 hours preceding his 2019 detention for alleged trafficking of underage individuals.
In a separate statement, the technology organization stated it respected the economist's determination to resign.
"We value his significant contributions and the viewpoint he provided to the governing body," the company stated.
Legislative Background
This news follows after the entire Congress of the US legislature voted on this week to endorse a bill that would compel the US justice department to release its files on Jeffrey Epstein.
The bill will afterward head to the administration of President Trump for signature. He has said he intends to approve the bill, after reversing his stance on the subject following pressure from his followers.

A batch of Epstein-related correspondence released by the Congressional committee recently included numerous well-known personalities in the financier's past associates, without implying any criminal activity by those people.
The communications revealed that the professor and Epstein often met for meals, with Epstein often trying to introduce Summers to influential world leaders.

He headed Harvard from 2001 to 2006 and remains a academic there. When announcing his withdrawal from public duties recently on this week, he indicated he would persist with his educational duties.

Following Summers' declaration on Monday, the Washington think tank, a liberal research organization in Washington where Summers was a prominent member, confirmed that Summers was ceased to be connected with the organization.
Summers entered the leadership of the AI company, which develops the AI chatbot, in last year - following a failed attempt to replace its chief executive Sam Altman.
