Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
