Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Top Player Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned almost 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
