Canada's skeleton athletes were cleared of accusations that they rigged a qualifying event for the upcoming Games, which allegedly denied competitors from other nations a spot to secure their place.

A prominent American athlete a five-time Olympian alleged the team from Canada of pulling a majority of its competitors from a race in Lake Placid. She claimed this reduced the field, making fewer qualifying points available. Despite winning the event, the American athlete failed to earn her qualifying position for the 2026 Olympics.
“Existing federation regulations permit member nations to pull competitors from an event at any time,” declared the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).
After reviewing the matter, the federation stated it would not impose sanctions, dismissing the complaints as no rules were broken of its regulations.

In response, Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton stood by the withdrawals, citing athlete welfare and the need for recovery. Coaches from the US, Denmark, Israel, and Malta had previously expressed “serious concerns” about the qualification process.
