A Meteoric Rise Through La Fabrica

The midfielder is the most recent to emerge from the famed youth system and is rapidly cementing himself as one of the manager's most promising young players.

He joined Real from CD Leganes in the summer of 2023, having formerly spent time at Atletico Madrid and Getafe's youth teams, and initially featuring for the under-19 side, where he quickly made a positive impact.

Spanish media would later label the moment as "an instant connection," adding he stood out not only for his technical ability, but for the vitality, character and drive he added to the team.

'His Best Attribute Remains His Character'

During the pre-season of 2025, former boss Alonso called up the youngster to train with the senior squad and awarded him minutes in pre-season.

Yet, it was Arbeloa's appointment that proved the defining moment in his development as he was introduced as a late substitute in both ties against the Portuguese side that set up the meeting with Pep Guardiola's team.

"I've dreamed of this each night when sleeping, the very first time I began playing the game, each day you go to train and every day you play a match," stated the player following his debut.

"I have just fulfilled my ambition with the best team in the planet and in the best competition."

Given a starting debut in La Liga against Getafe - where he spent several seasons after arriving from Atleti in 2018 - he has retained his spot for the next four as fitness issues to Jude Bellingham and Ceballos created an opportunity.

Pitarch has seized it with displays that have belied his age and experience.

"He's a extremely fast player, and you can observe his capabilities," remarked Arbeloa. "He is incredibly energetic, with great stamina, work-rate and mobility."

The player's mindset has also stood out to his coach.

"His greatest quality is his character," added Arbeloa. "He always wants the possession, and even under pressure, he doesn't feel it.

"I understand fans might be astonished to watch him start in a Champions League match, but he's playing because I had complete confidence in him to perform his normal game.

"Thiago will continue to get chances with the first team. It's a pleasure to coach a player like him."

A Future International Decision

Pitarch was born in Fuenlabrada, in the Spanish capital's community, and was raised fully immersed in the local game, progressing through local academies before entering Real Madrid's famous La Fabrica system.

He holds dual Moroccan and Spanish citizenship, offering him the choice to represent both nations at senior international level.

Under Fifa eligibility rules, players may appear for multiple nations at junior level without being permanently tied, with the ultimate choice only binding once they appear in a official senior international match.

Pitarch has featured for the Spanish national team at youth level, turning out for both the under-19 and U20 teams, and took part in the 2025 Youth World Cup, where La Roja made it to the quarter-finals.

This scenario echoes that of other dual nationality players such as Real team-mate Diaz and Barca star Yamal. Whereas 18-year-old Lamine opted for Spain, Diaz opted to play for the Atlas Lions.

Eyes on the Prize

For now, his attention is on establishing himself in the Madrid lineup and rewarding Arbeloa's faith.
